Five Stops to Upper Myanmar

Yangon > Bagan > Mt.Popa > Mandalay > Pyin Oo Lwin

Day 1

As you touch down in Myanmar, we will take the stress out of leaving Yangon International. A friendly driver will be arranged to welcome you at the airport and make for an easy transfer to your hotel. The morning will start with a walking tour in downtown Yangon (Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Colonial Buildings of Yangon, Independence monument, Scott Market for a little shopping. Safe and delicious local cuisine at Feel Traditional restaurant will be enjoyed for lunch before visiting the largest reclining Buddha Image in Myanmar, Chaukhtat Gyi. Later we’ll escape the crowds to the scenic surrounds of Kandawagyi Park with its peaceful lake, and superb panoramic view of Shwedagon. Before the days end, the largest pagoda and most revered Buddhist shrine in Myanmar will be explored, the Shwedagon – 99m, gilded with pure gold leaves. Lastly we’ll persue the Botataung Pagoda and the daily lives of people around Yangon River. A driver will take you back to your hotel to get a well deserved rest before day two.

Day 2

Rise and shine, we have a flight to Bagan. Bagan is one of Asia’s most famous historic sites, home to over 2200 Buddhist and Hindu temples. Being such a large area we have ensured the highlights are covered, visiting  Nyaung Oo Market, 11th century Shwezigon Pagoda, Kyansitthar U Min, Gubyuakgyi temple & Lacquerware workshop. Three more temples will be observed (the Ananda, Thatbyinnyu and Damayangyi) before enjoying the sunset at Bupaya Pagoda or Shwe San Daw Pagoda. Overnight stay in Bagan.

Day 3

A short road trip will take you to Mt. Popa, which will involve a climb of 777 steps ascending an extinct volcano, which is the home for the 37 Nats (Spirits). Your journey will continue to Mandalay, passing through the interesting upper Myanmar (dry-zone) this will include a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel at Mandalay.

 

Day 4

Having breakfast and visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, excursion in local artisan’s workshops of gold leaf making, woodcarving. Sightseeing includes U Bein Bridge, Shwe Nandaw (Golden Palace) wooden Monastery, Mandalay Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda containing the world’s largest book made of marble. Enjoy sunset at Mandalay hill. Dinner and overnight stay in Mandalay.

Day 5

After breakfast, go to the cool hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin. Visit to Peik Chin Myaung Cave or Maha Nandamu Cave, Pwe Kauk or B.E Waterfalls, Chan Tak Buddhist Temple, Mahar Ant Htoo Kanthar Pagoda and the National Kandawgyi Gardens (National Botanical Gardens). Return to Yangon by car.

Day 6

Early morning start, returning to Yangon.
