Loikaw city is the capital of Kayah State. It the smallest state of all Myanmar, but at the same time it’s the one with the highest ethnic diversity. Only 2 of the 7 provinces are currently opened to tourists, due to the ongoing civil ethnic conflicts. Loikaw & Demoso have been opened to independent tourists only since 2013, therefore, Loikaw is still untouched by tourists which makes it very authentic and consequently becomes one of the best destinations from all over the country.

In Loikaw city the most famous pagoda is called Taung Kwe which is located at the top of a small hill from where you get to see stunning views of the town. After the Golden Rock pagoda, it is considered one of the best pagodas in the country, not only for its greatness but also for the views and its spiritual atmosphere. Due to the majesty of this pagoda,Burmese people from all over the country come to the region for a weekend gateway.
